You are correct: Huangshan Yupinglou Hotel locates inside Huangshan Scenic Area, so the closet bus station to the hotel is Huangshan Scenic Spot Bus Station.
In this winter, the 15:00 bus from Huangshan Scenic Spot to Shanghai runs on odd days only, so it will not available for you on December 20.
Under this case, you can go to Huangshan Tunxi to take bus or train (find schedule on www.chinatrainguide.com) to go to Shanghai.

I will be staying at the Huangshan Yupinglou hotel on 19.12.-20.12.2018 and I need transportation back to Shanghai on 20.12.2018.
I’m wondering if the Huangshan scenic spot bus station is near my hotel.
Are there available tickets for the bus leaving from Huangshan scenic spot on 20.12.2018 15:00?
