Shanghai South Bus Station

Introduction

Locating on the southeast side of Shanghai South Railway Station, Shanghai South Long Distance Bus Station is designed and built as a national level bus terminal with construction area of 20,000 square meters. The two-storey terminal building has ticket offices on both ground floor and underground floor opening more than 20 ticket windows to meet with passengers’ ticketing request including ticket purchase and booking, ticket pickup and etc.

The service desk of Shanghai South Long Distance Bus Station, known as “Sunshine Island”, provides information consulting, ticket cancellation and changing as well as other tailored service as per passengers’ special request.

Auxiliary facilities inside the bus station are ATM and bank, restaurant, coffee bar, convenience store, cell phone charging station, left luggage office and etc.

Address of Shanghai South Long Distance Bus Station is at No. 666, Shilong Road, Xuhui District.

The bus station has convenient transportation. By way of Shilong Road and Southern Guilin Road, buses leaving from Shanghai South Long Distance Bus Station can reach Shanghai Humin Elevated Highway in 4 minutes and reach the Middle Ring Road in 5 minutes. It takes 6 minutes, 7 minutes or 25 minutes to drive from Shanghai South Bus Station to the Outer Ring Road, Shanghai-Hangzhou Highway or Shanghai-Nanjing Highway respectively.

Upon arrival to Shanghai South Long Distance Bus Station, travelers can walk 3 to 8 minutes to Shanghai South Railway Station, Shanghai South Metro Station, the city bus stop or taxi stand through the underground interchange passages which facilitate direct transfer inside the bus station.

Transportation to Shanghai South Long Distance Bus Station by Metro

Passengers can get to Shanghai South Long Distance Bus Station by Shanghai Metro Line 1, Metro Line 3 or Jinshan Railway. Metro Line 3 has more convenient access to Shanghai South Long Distance Bus Station than that of Metro Line 1.

Upon arrival to Shanghai South Metro Station by the Metro Line 3, passengers can follow the guide signs to walk through the underground passage to the ticket office of Shanghai South Bus Station directly. Otherwise, passengers can leave the metro station from No. 2 exit to access to Shanghai South Bus Station through the ground-level pedestrian walkway.

For those coming by Metro Line 1, the most convenient way is to walk through the underground passage to Metro Line 3 and follow procedures mentioned above to reach Shanghai South Long Distance Bus Station.

Passengers arriving to Shanghai South Railway Station by Jinshan Railway Line can follow the guide signs along the raod and walk 5-10 minutes to get to the South Bus Station.

Getting to Shanghai South Bus Station by Bus

The following buses has stops at Shanghai South Long Distance Bus Station including 50, 111, 144, 156, 157, 164, 180, 218, 303, 326, 341 (night bus), 718, 729, 747, 973 as well as Nannan Line, Shangfeng Special Line, Shangzhu Line, Airport Bus Line 7, Nanchuan Line, Shanghaijia Line, Shangshi Line, Xumin Line.

Bus Routes and Schedules

As of July 2017, Shanghai South Long Distance Bus Station has departures for more than 200 prefectures, counties and townships in 13 provinces.

It has daily departures to almost all neighboring cities and scenic spots including Hangzhou, Suzhou, Ningbo, Changzhou, Kunshan, Taicang, Yangzhou, Taizhou Jiangsu, Taizhou Zhejiang,Wuxi, Jiaxing, Shaoxing, Huangshan, Nanjing as well as the Yellow Mountain, Wuzhen, Nanxun, Qiandao Lake, Putuoshan Island and etc .

What we wanted to note is that, Shanghai South Bus Station has a dedicated waiting room for passengers going for Ningbo with buses available from 6:30 to 20:00 for every half an hour. It’s a cost effective way to travel from Shanghai South Bus Station to Ningbo by bus by considering riding time of 2 hours and a half and ticket price of CNY 103 Yuan.

Ticketing

Shanghai South Bus Station opens from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm from Monday to Sunday. International travelers should submit their passports and pay CNY Yuan to purchase or reserve bus tickets directly through the ticket window.
