Jiuzhaigou, or Jiuzhai Valley, is a World Heritage Site declared by United Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 1990S. Well known as "The World of Fairy Tales", Jiuzhaigou has splendid scenery almost all over the year.
Jiuzhaigou is a territory of Jiuzhaigou County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in the North of Southwest China Sichuan Province. China’s rapid growing high speed railway has not reached Jiuzhaigou yet, and tourists mainly use coach buses to travel from/to Jiuzhaigou.
☝ Jiuzhai Goukou Bus Station or Jiuzhaigou Scenic Spot Bus Station
Jiuzhaigou now has two long distance bus stations including Jiuzhaigou County Bus Station and Jiuzhai Goukou Bus Station.
Located in the city center, Jiuzhaigou County Bus Station is 41 kilometers away to the Jiuzhaigou Valley National Park and 166 kilometers to Huang Long Scenic Area. Jiuzhaigou County Bus Station has more than 10 times of daily buses leaving for Chengdu Chadianzi, Mianyang, Guangyuan, Suining, Maerkang, Maoxian, Songpan, Wenchuan and etc.
Jiuzhai Goukou Bus Station, also known as Jiuzhaigou Scenic Spot Bus Station, Jiuzhai Tourist Transportation Center, Jiuzhaigou Jiutong Bus Station, is the closet bus station to the renowned Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area. Its exact location is at Huodiba, Zhangzha Town of Jiuzhaigou County. Upon arrival to Jiuzhai Goukou Bus Station, tourists can just walk 800 meters to the entrance of Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area in less than 10 minutes. To visit the famous Jiuzhaigou Park, Almost all tourists would choose to drop off at jiuzhai Goukou Bus Station.
Jiuzhai Goukou Bus Station has less than 20 daily departures for Chengdu Xinnanmen, Lanzhou, Wenchuan, Meishan, Wudu, Chongqing, Yibin and etc.
During holidays, there will be a lot people rushing for Jiuzhaigou for sightseeing and relaxing. Hotels, restaurants, buses and etc close to Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area would turn insufficient. Price for accommodation, food, ground transportation would surge during this time. It’s a good idea to go to Jiuzhaigou County Bus Station and stay one night in the downtown with less expense and come to visit Jiuzhaigou National Park the next day by city bus. Scenery along Jiuzhaigou County to Jiuzhaigou Scenic Spot is also impressive and amazing.
Long Distance buses from both Jiuzhaigou County Bus Station and Jiuzhaigou Goukou Bus Station leave in the early morning. No bus will be available after 9:00 am. If you leave Jiuzhaigou later, you will have to rent a car.
It has two lines to travel by bus between Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou including the East Line and the West line.
In the East Line, it would travel between Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou Scenic Spot via Guanghan, Deyang, Mianyang, Jiangyou, Pingwu, Jiuzhaigou County. Riding distance is 520 kilometers and riding time is about 9 hours. Most tourists would not choose this line as it misses the famous tourist attractions including Chuanzhusi and Huanglong and few coach buses operated by the stated-owned company would travel this way neither.
While the West Line is very popular for both tourists and the drivers. On this line, it would travel via Dujiangyan, Wenchuan, Maoxian, Songpan, Chuanzhusi and etc. Total riding distance is 430 km and riding time is about 8 hours. Coach buses running on the West Line would stop twice for toilet and it would also stop half an hour at a restaurant in the noon where passengers can get off to eat and etc.

Even in the low season, the Jiuzhaigou Valley would accept more than 10,000 visitors per day. Visitor number would increased to 40,000 each day during busy travel season. There is a huge demand for public transportation in Jiuzhaigou.
